Message from Residency Program Director

Residency Program Director
Aruna Ganju, MD

Neurosurgery is one of the most exciting and innovative fields in medicine.  The goal of our resident training program is to expose our residents to all facets of the field, aiding as they identify their passions and future career goals as they relate to neurosurgery.  Our residents do not follow a predetermined career path; rather, it is our role to help them find a path that best fits their interests.

To achieve this goal, our residents are exposed to the full range of neurosurgical disease and career paths.  This exposure ranges from advanced clinical programs to innovative and collaborative translational research.  Our clinical experience is unparalleled in terms of depth and breadth.  Unique aspects of our program include the assignment of a faculty mentor to each resident;  this relationship is meant to foster professional and personal growth on each individual's unique journey.

Northwestern’s Neurological Surgery training program hopes to inspire our residents to become tomorrow’s neurosurgical leaders.  Whether you choose an academic or non-academic path, we are dedicated to helping you pursue a career that you find enjoyable and meaningful.
