Bio

Patricia Garcia, MD is a Professor of Medical Education and Obstetrics and Gynecology (Maternal-Fetal Medicine). She is the former Associate Dean for Curriculum at the Feinberg School of Medicine and is an attending physician in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Northwestern Medicine. Dr. Garcia led curriculum renewal at FSM and implemented the new curriculum in 2012. Her educational focus is curriculum development, evidence-based teaching and learning to optimize student outcomes and technology-enhanced learning.

Bio

Khalilah Gates, MD, a Chicago native, is a pulmonary and critical care specialist at Northwestern Medicine and a member of the Asthma/COPD program. She received her bachelor of science at Spelman College in Atlanta. She completed her medical school, residency and chief residency training at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. She went on to complete her Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at McGaw. Medical Center of Northwestern University. Gates has remained as faculty at Northwestern since completion of her training. Gates is now associate professor of Medicine and Medical Education, assistant dean of Medical Education and the medical director for diversity, equity and inclusion for NM Academy. She is involved in many diversity and inclusion initiatives at Feinberg and Northwestern Medicine, including as member of the NM/Feinberg Diversity Council and the faculty lead for the Inclusion and Bias and Obesity Taskforces. The task forces are charged with creating a more inclusive and bias-free curriculum and learning environments at Feinberg across programs.
