Mangold, Karen A

Bio
Karen Mangold, MD, MEd, is a pediatric emergency medicine physician who works clinically at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. She teaches and conducts research using simulation-based education and is the fellowship program director for pediatric emergency medicine. Mangold is interested in the development and assessment of educational curricula, especially at the graduate medical level and in learner assessment and mentorship. Mangold is also interested in training other physicians to be better medical educators and to have successful careers as clinical educators.
Fletcher, Michelle L

Bio
Michelle Fletcher, MD, is assistant professor of Medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine. She joined the faculty at Northwestern in 2018 after completing medical school, residency and a chief year at the University of Chicago. In addition to patient care, she is passionate about medical education and promoting a diverse and inclusive healthcare environment. Fletcher has given talks at both the regional and national levels addressing the importance of diversity in medicine and responding to microaggressions. She is the current clerkship director for the medicine sub-internship at the Feinberg School of Medicine. In 2022, she was selected as the director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the Division of Hospital Medicine.
Bockrath, Robyn Ann

Bio
Robyn Bockrath, MD, MEd, is an academic hospital-based pediatrician whose interests lie in general pediatric medicine and medical education. She currently serves as the phase 1a curriculum director and assistant pediatric clerkship director for Northwestern's medical students. Bockrath enjoys designing and evaluating curricula and mentoring others through the curricular design process.
Dolan, Brigid M

Bio
Brigid Dolan, MD, MEd, is an adult general internist at Northwestern Medicine. Clinically, she focuses on sex- and gender-based health, including access to contraception within primary care and preventive care for patients who have experienced adverse health events during the pregnancy and postpartum periods. Upon completing Internal Medicine residency, she pursued additional training in medical education through the University of Cincinnati's MEd program, where she developed an interest in assessment. She currently serves as Assistant Dean for Assessment for the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Her primary scholarly efforts focus on the implementation of Competency-Based Medical Education within undergraduate medical education.
Garcia, Patricia M

Patricia Garcia, MD is a Professor of Medical Education and Obstetrics and Gynecology (Maternal-Fetal Medicine). She is the former Associate Dean for Curriculum at the Feinberg School of Medicine and is an attending physician in the Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Northwestern Medicine. Dr. Garcia led curriculum renewal at FSM and implemented the new curriculum in 2012. Her educational focus is curriculum development, evidence-based teaching and learning to optimize student outcomes and technology-enhanced learning.
Gates, Khalilah Latrece

Bio
Khalilah Gates, MD, a Chicago native, is a pulmonary and critical care specialist at Northwestern Medicine and a member of the Asthma/COPD program. She received her bachelor of science at Spelman College in Atlanta. She completed her medical school, residency and chief residency training at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. She went on to complete her Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship at McGaw. Medical Center of Northwestern University. Gates has remained as faculty at Northwestern since completion of her training. Gates is now associate professor of Medicine and Medical Education, assistant dean of Medical Education and the medical director for diversity, equity and inclusion for NM Academy. She is involved in many diversity and inclusion initiatives at Feinberg and Northwestern Medicine, including as member of the NM/Feinberg Diversity Council and the faculty lead for the Inclusion and Bias and Obesity Taskforces. The task forces are charged with creating a more inclusive and bias-free curriculum and learning environments at Feinberg across programs.

Omari W. Keeles, MPH, MEd, PhD, earned his PhD from the Combined Program in Education and Psychology at the University of Michigan. His primary interests focus on the connection between structural racism and health inequities. Specifically, he is interested in how policies within and across educational institutions and housing relate to racial differences in access to quality healthcare.

Bio
Mark Adler, MD, is a pediatric emergency medicine faculty member at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, a professor of Pediatrics and Medical Education at the Feinberg School of Medicine and a healthcare educator, investigator and mentor. Adler founded and has led the kidSTAR Healthcare Education Program at Lurie Children's since 2003. He is an associate editor for Simulation in Healthcare, the journal of Society of Simulation in Healthcare. Adler is a fellow in the Simulation Academy (Society of Simulation in Healthcare) and the National Academy of Distinguished Educators in Pediatrics (Academic Pediatric Association).He is interested in the use of assessment for formative feedback of learners and the use of simulation-based education to improve clinician performance individually and in teams.
Lipner, Rebecca

Rebecca Lipner, PhD, is senior vice president of Assessment and Research at the American Board of Internal Medicine, where she oversees a team of measurement and research design and analysis experts who employ measurement principles using both qualitative and quantitative methods. Prior to joining ABIM, Lipner held a variety of teaching and faculty positions at Drexel University, St. Josephs University and the University of Pittsburgh, where she taught undergraduate and graduate courses in statistics, tests and measurement, experimental design, systems analysis and design, and expert systems.
Salzman, David H

Bio
David Salzman, MD, MEd, is an emergency medicine physician at Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a strong interest in medical education. After completing residency training, he completed a master's in education from the University of Cincinnati. For the medical school and emergency medicine training programs, Salzman oversees the implementation of simulation-based education into all four years of each curriculum. Salzman's primary research focus has been centered on curriculum development using a specific competency-based model called simulation-based mastery learning to improve educational outcomes for medical student and resident training. These curricula span procedural and communication domains. Additionally, he collaborates with Northwestern's educational technology team to innovate the delivery of curricular content for the medical students.
