Health & Function Fellowship

The two-year Health & Function Research Fellowship, funded by the National Institute on Disability, Independent Living and Rehabilitation Research, is designed to develop and train a cadre of scientists capable of leading high-quality studies that will enhance health and function for persons with disabilities.

The fellowship provides MDs and PhDs with:

  • Mentoring, protected research time, annual stipend and benefits
  • Tuition to for course work in health services and outcomes research, original research, grant writing and scientific publishing
  • Professional development opportunities, including funds for conference travel

This project utilizes the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab (formerly the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago) as its clinical site. The AbilityLab has been names 29 consecutive years as the outstanding rehabilitation hospital in the country. It sponsors the largest education and training center of any rehabilitation facility in the nation.
