2024 Lecture

Jeffrey Gordon, MD, the Dr. Robert J. Glaser Distinguished University Professor and Director of The Edison Family Center for Genome Sciences and Systems Biology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, has received the 2024 Mechthild Esser Nemmers Prize in Medical Science at Northwestern University. He has led research which has transformed the understanding of human health and how it is shaped by the gut microbiome. He will present his lecture on September 30, 2024.

2022 Lecture

Jeremy Nathans, MD, PhD, an investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and a professor at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, known for his landmark discoveries into the molecular mechanisms of visual system development and function. Nathans received the 2022 Mechthild Esser Nemmers Prize in Medical Science at Northwestern University.

2018 Lecture

Stuart H. Orkin, MD, a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator at Boston Children's Hospital and professor at Harvard Medical School known for his landmark discoveries into blood cell development and the genetic basis of blood disorders, was the recipient of the 2018 Mechthild Esser Nemmers Prize in Medical Science at Northwestern University.

2016 Lecture

Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine wishes to thank Huda Zoghbi, MD, for her inspiring visit to our campus and lecture, "Rett Syndrome: A winding path from clinic to bench and back to the clinic." Zoghbi, the inaugural recipient of the Mechthild Esser Nemmers Prize in Medical Science, shared her research with Feinberg faculty, staff and students in September 2016.
