Comprehensive Pain Management Program
One of the nation's most advanced and comprehensive programs for the treatment of intractable and chronic pain is headed by Robert M. Levy, MD, PhD. He introduced the use of deep brain stimulation for pain, a treatment which may be highly effective for certain patients for whom other options are not suitable. Similar to devices used to control tremor and movement disorders, the stimulator is placed using special imaging techniques and connected to a generator under the skin near the collar bone. Early results have been very promising.
