Comprehensive Pain Management Program

One of the nation's most advanced and comprehensive programs for the treatment of intractable and chronic pain is headed by Robert M. Levy, MD, PhD. Designed to integrate all related specialties including neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, anesthesiology, and social services, the program provides solutions ranging from counseling and medical management to surgical implantation of stimulators and other pain-controlling devices.

Dr. Levy is a world-renowned leader in innovative surgical therapy for severe, chronic, and intractable pain. He introduced the use of deep brain stimulation for pain, a treatment which may be highly effective for certain patients for whom other options are not suitable. Similar to devices used to control tremor and movement disorders, the stimulator is placed using special imaging techniques and connected to a generator under the skin near the collar bone. Early results have been very promising.

Treatment for chronic, intractable pain of the face, back, and other areas is also available.

Dr. Levy's clinic may be reached at 312/695-8143.
