For Physician Volunteers

Mentor future physicians, and support your community.

We are always in need of volunteer physicians to supervise our medical students at these community events. Please see information below.

Eligibility

MD or DO, 2nd year residents and above are welcome to sign up as physician volunteers!

Description

Physician volunteers at KYHH events mentor medical students who are developing their motivational interviewing and counseling skills, triage patients who screen with very high or very low blood pressure, and address pertinent health issues or medical questions that might arise from students or participants during the course of their encounters.

In this role, physicians will get the chance to engage with the greater Chicago community and take a part in proactively addressing the health disparities present in their city. They help the initiative serve at-risk populations and bring preventive health measures to underserved populations.

In addition to this community service role, physician volunteers also act as teachers. They provide valuable feedback to help students improve their interviewing, counseling, and cultural sensitivity skills. They play a key role in the educational benefit that KYHH provides to participating students.
