What We Do

Subsidized Activities

We provide Northwestern affiliated investigators an initial one hour consultation, subsidized by the Feinberg Research Office. Grant writing (e.g. developing analysis plans, sample size calculations) is also supported at no cost to full-time Feinberg faculty at the level of instructor or higher. Our goal is to cultivate a collaborative environment and establish relationships that will lead to successful grant applications.

Grant Funding

When BCC faculty and staff help prepare and write grant applications, it is expected that the principal investigator will invite the BCC faculty to be the lead Biostatistician or Co-Investigator, and that a BCC statistical analyst will be included for % effort as appropriate. BCC involvement early on in the development of the application not only ensures that study design, power calculations and data analysis plans are appropriate and optimal, but also increases the chances of funding.

Recharge Model

For projects that require biostatistics expertise, but are limited in scope, the BCC supports a Recharge/Fee-for-service model. Rates are $125 - $150/hr. These rates are for internal clients, including Northwestern departments, centers, and affiliates. Rates are an additional $100/hour for non-NU clients.
