Areas of study include (1) the role of alternative RNA splicing events in mechanisms of lipid metabolism, atherosclerosis, and renal fibrosis and (2) functional interrogation of the molecular mechanisms by which novel genes identified through human genetics studies impact disease phenotypes. My group employs an integrative approach including cellular models derived from human induced pluripotent stem cells with genome-editing technology, animal-based mechanistic studies, and transcriptomic and proteomic discovery.[Shorten text]
