Focus of Work
Dr. Angelotta is a board-certified forensic psychiatrist with expertise in treating mood, anxiety, psychotic, personality, and trauma-related disorders. She has subspeciality training in perinatal psychiatry, which is the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric illness during pregnancy and the postpartum period.
Dr. Angelotta's research focuses on the intersection of perinatal psychiatry and the law. She has a particular interest in pregnancy denial, postpartum psychosis, neonaticide, and infanticide. She teaches and supervises medical students and psychiatric residents.
Dr. Angelotta treats individuals in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She does forensic psychiatric consultations for attorneys and the courts regarding malpractice, psychiatric disability, parenting capacity, emotional harm, competence to stand trial, mental state at the time of the offense (insanity and diminished capacity), sentencing evaluations, violence risk assessment, and other psychiatric-legal issues.
