Overview

This comprehensive PPG incorporates an integrated strategy to examine the role of altered wall mechanics in esophageal diseases. The goal of the PPG is to test the hypotheses that esophageal disease and associated symptom severity are primarily linked to abnormalities of impaired compliance of the esophageal wall and that this is caused by altered cellular function in the epithelium and muscle, modulated by underlying visceral hypersensitivity and hypervigilance.
