More on his trip can be found at: http://bit.ly/yuMZ0L Anna Torricelli, Project Coordinator, presented the abstract Raising the Bar: Enhancing the Fidelity of In-situ Simulation in a Collaborative, Multi-institutional Team Training Project at the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) Interprofessional Education and Healthcare Simulation Symposium on January 28th, 2012. This presentation described the logistical processes adopted to increase realism of the in-situ experience as part of the AHRQ and Michael Reese Health Trust-funded project: “Risk-Informed In-Situ Simulation for Pediatric Emergency Transfers” (PI: Holl/Woods). Donna Woods, EdM PhD and a team of Co-Investigators at Northwestern were awarded one of the CHIPRA Pediatric Measures - Center of Excellence grants in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin Medical Center (PI), the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). This research team included faculty from the Institute of Healthcare Studies, Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Medical Social Sciences, Hospital Medicine, Children's Memorial Hospital, and Maternal Fetal Medicine. Over 200 healthcare leaders joined the Center on May 11th, 2007 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. A variety of lectures on patient safety were presented. Northwestern contributed posters and presenters to the 2007 conference. Department of Emergency Medicine and Center for Patient Safety faculty, Chris Beach, MD and John Vozenilek, MD were joined by colleagues Abra Berg and Dr. Sarah Donlan with their poster titled "Transitioning Patients from the Ed to the Hospital: Observations of Handoff Communication." Leaders in HIT (Health Information Technology), Abel Kho, MD and David Liebovitz, MD present their poster during the 2007 Chicago Patient Safety Forum Annual Scientific Meeting.
