Northwerstern's Anesthesiology has graduated the most number of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology Fellows in the country since 2009 according to a recent article in Journal of Neurosurgical Anesthesiology.

Congratulations to Louanne Carabini, MD, who has been appointed Assistant Director of the Critical Care Medicine Fellowship.

Welcome new faculty Ashley Agerson, MD, who trained at Temple University University for residency and Northwestern for fellowship in Pain Medicine. Dr. Agerson was Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at University of Chicago before joining Northwestern.

A study at the ANESTHESIOLOGY™ 2012 annual meeting by Ling Qun Hu, MD about the global health initiative to China revealed dramatic findings. Welcome new faculty Feyce Peralta, MD, who trained at Ohio State University Medical Center for residency and Northwestern for fellowship in Obstetrical Anesthesiology. Dr. Peralta was Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Ohio State University Medical Center before joining Northwestern.

Hot off the press is Anesthesia Unplugged, a new textbook co-authored by Christine Park, MD and several other Northwestern anesthesiology faculty.

The Department is honored to have Vice-Chair, Cynthia Wong, MD, appointed to the ACGME Resident Review Committee of Anesthesiology.

An article titled "Factors Affecting Admission to Anesthesiology Residency in the United States: Choosing the Future of Our Specialty" has been published in the August edition of Anesthesiology by Dr. DeOliveira et al.

The ASA endorsed the Northwestern Center for Clinical Simulation to provide simulation courses to ABA Diplomates in order to satisy the Practice Performance Assessment and Improvement requirement for MOCA®.
The Northwestern Center for Clinical Simulation (NCCS) is an endorsed program of the American Society of Anesthesiologists'
Simulation Education Network.

The Department of Anesthesiology joins 17 other medical centers as being among the first to receive this endorsement. The NCCS will offer simulation training for American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) Diplomates seeking to satisfy ABA requirements for Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA®).
