Dr. Kulkarni joined Northwestern University as an Associate Professor of Surgery in the division of Breast Surgery in July 2015.

Swati Kulkarni, MD, received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. Dr. Kulkarni joined Northwestern University as an Associate Professor of Surgery in the division of Breast Surgery in July 2015.

Swati Kulkarni, MD, received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. Following this, she completed her General Surgery residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital (Weill Medical College of Cornell University) in New York and was a Breast Surgery Fellow here at Northwestern. Between 2004 and 2011, Dr. Kulkarni was employed at Roswell Park Cancer Institute where she also served as the Founding Director of the Breast Cancer Risk and Prevention Program beginning in 2006. Between 2011 and June 2015, she had been an Associate Professor at University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine.

In regards to research, Dr. Kulkarni has a strong interest and enthusiasm for translational and clinical research.

Dr. Kulkarni’s scholarly contributions include publications on cyclooxegenase inhibitors, arachidonic acid and prostaglandins, inflammation and oncology, and breast cancer risk reduction.

Dr. Kulkarni’s clinical interests include the surgical treatment of malignant and benign breast disease. Her vast surgical training and experience, coupled with her research interests, complements the expertise of the Department of Surgery, the Feinberg School of Medicine, and Northwestern Memorial Hospital.[Shorten text]
