Matthew Lazio, MD Cheif Resident Medical School:  University of Iowa Undergraduate:  Northwestern University

Matthew Lazio is a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society, and he is the recipient of numerous scholarships during medical school.  He has been active in medical school working as a facilitator for the patient-centered learning course in the second year and organized a medical Spanish course. He acted as a tutor for Gross Anatomy and has worked as an interpreter for the Spanish-speaking dialysis patients. Matt was the medical student speaker at the Dept of Anatomy’s annual Deeded Body Ceremony. Matt was a board member and volunteer for the University of Iowa Mobile Clinic. Matt was very active doing research as an undergraduate at Northwestern and co-authored four peer-reviewed journal articles as well as four poster presentations. He presented his research nationally as the first author at one meeting. Matt’s interests outside the classroom include backpacking, camping, mountain climbing, running and traveling.
