File Review Timeline

A Message to candidates sent 10/12/2011

Candidates,

Thank you for applying to Northwestern.

As many programs have started to offer interviews over the last several weeks, I wanted to provide some information about the selection process at our institution.

Northwestern does not complete the file review process for applicants to the emergency medicine residency program until after receipt of the MSPE (Medical Student Performance Evaluation, or “Dean’s Letter”) on November 1st.

We receive a large number of applications from remarkably competitive candidates. We value the information found in the MSPE, which in many instances helps us to better understand the strengths and attributes of a candidate, apart from simply their grades and scores.

Invitations to interview at Northwestern will be e-mailed starting approximately November 4th.

Candidates who completed a rotation at Northwestern will be contacted shortly with an early invitation to interview.

To help in your travel plans, here is a list of our interview dates for this season:

Wednesday, November 16th
Thursday, November 17th
Monday, November 21st
Tuesday, November 22nd

Wednesday, December 14th
Thursday, December 15th
Monday, December 19th
Tuesday, December 20th

Thursday, January 12th
Friday, January 13th
Thursday, January 19th
Friday, January 20th

Evening events will be held at faculty homes on 11/16, 11/21, 12/14, 12/19, 1/5, 1/12, and 1/19 - we hope that you will be able to join us for dinner at the evening social during the week that you are interviewing, should your travel plans allow. Of course, you may attend any evening social during the interview season, if conflicts arise.

Again, thank you for your application and your patience during this important process. Please feel free to contact me with any further questions.
