Transverse Process Fracture

Diagnosis

CT scan is more sensitive than conventional radiography for transverse process fractures of the lumbar spine.
Once a transverse process fracture is detected, CT imaging of the entire thoracolumbar spine to detect any associated fractures is indicated.
CT of the abdomen is also indicated because of frequent concomitant intraabdominal injuries.
