Scapula Fracture

Diagnosis

Shoulder X rays are important to rule out articular involvement.  Chest X rays should be done routinely if a fracture to the body or neck of the scapula is diagnosed, as should other indicated trauma studies.  CT scanning is helpful for articular fractures to assess articular stepoff, displacement, and angulation.  Vascular deficits should prompt angiographic assessment.
