Salter-Harris Type IV Fracture of the proximal middle phalanx
Red=Metaphyseal Fracture; Blue=Epiphyseal Fracture
Be wary of diagnosing sprains in children with tenderness near a growth plate. Rather, immobilize with a splint and refer to orthopedics for repeat films in 7-10 days to ensure you don’t miss a Salter-Harris type I or V fracture.
