Galeazzi Fracture

Diagnosis

AP and lateral radiographs of the wrist and forearm will diagnose Galeazzi fractures.  Disruption of the distal radioulnar joint is suggested on radiographs by:

  • fracture at the base of the ulnar styloid process
  • widening of the DRUJ space
  • greater than 5mm shortening of the radius relative to the distal ulna.

Comparison views of the opposite DRUJ may aid in diagnosis.
