Amit Phull completed his degree in computer science at UVA, where he became keenly interested in the application of technology and informatics in health systems. As an undergraduate, Amit studied the efficacy of an electronic prescription compliance monitoring system. In medical school, he participated in a project to streamline lab function in the Department of Molecular Physiology, a study of the role of ECG analysis in clinical decision making in the ED, a study of the efficacy of Dual Energy CTPA for the diagnosis of PE, and the development of interactive educational websites for students and residents. Amit spent an additional pre-clinical year to create a prototype mobile computer system for the organ transplantation team at UVA. In addition to his numerous medical technology projects, Amit served as an executive board member for the medical school governing organization and the vice president for the UVA AMSA chapter. He sang with the Spinal Chords and participated in Cooking for a Cause, both local medical school charity groups.
