Heather Leonard was named and All-ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) member of the Duke University Varsity Indoor Track Team, holding an ACC and three Duke University records in various events. Heather also participated in Varsity Outdoor Track (earning two Duke “Top 5 All-Time Performances”) and Varsity Cross-Country, qualifying for NCAA national competition. Heather has done research for GeroFit Program for Veterans during undergrad as well as served as a community volunteer at a low income retirement home through the Duke Summer Alumni Mentorship Program. After undergrad, Heather worked at Brown University doing HIV clinical research. While at the University of Connecticut Medical School, she was the Director of Resident Education and a manager of the South Park Medical Clinic. Heather has also taught at the American School for the Deaf, participated in the Anesthesiology Summer Internship Program, and volunteered for numerous organizations. She is the co-author of a publication in the Journal of Rehabilitation Research and Development, and has presented data from the Brown University HIV Research Program at the 2003 National HIV Prevention Conference.
