Ben Sayers was awarded the Case Medical School Fellowship for Language and Cultural Immersion (to support travel to Cuba with the MEDICC program), the Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM) Student Associate Scholarship, and was selected for participation in Scholars Collaboration in Teaching and Learning for curriculum development. Ben has presented at the SGIM Faculty Development of Current and Future Teachers Conference, the Association of Medical Education in Europe, and the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology. He has also worked as a research assistant at a NASA funded plant biology laboratory studying microbiology. Ben volunteered as a basketball coach for the Special Olympics while he was a DJ with the Def Jam South label.
