Jon Van Roo has been actively involved in a wide variety of activities including acting as his Class Co-President throughout medical school, and he has served on the Ethics Committee for the last three years. He has served as a teaching assistant for the undergraduate physiology course. Jon’s undergraduate work is very different from most in that he studied engineering mechanics and astronautics. He has worked as an Aerospace Engineer for NASA training crews for hardware operation on the International Space Station, designing and researching plant growth devices, and designing other products for space travel. He continues to work with the Wisconsin Air National Guard as a Bioenvironmental Engineer. Jon enjoys flying and holds private single engine land and glider ratings. He has been active in running several marathons and an Ironman triathlon. He also enjoys bicycle touring, skiing, backpacking, hiking and rock climbing.
