Undergraduate:  Harvard University

Danielle McCarthy is one of the Chief Residents.  She completed her undergraduate education at Harvard where she was a member and Team Captain of the Women’s Varsity Water Polo Team.  She came to the residency program from Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine where she was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha.  During residency she has performed research examining the relationship between caffeine abuse and other pharmaceutical products.  This research was presented at ACEP and was featured by the Associated Press, resulting in extensive press coverage of the study and an appearance on The Today Show.  She is currently working on projects examining communication within the ED and transitions of care.  When she is not in the hospital Danielle enjoys spending her free time sailing.
