Dave Lu completed both his MD and Masters of Bioethics at the University of Pennsylvania. During medical school, he received a grant to study euthanasia policy in the Netherlands as well as a clinical fellowship in dermatology at the University of Vienna. While at Penn, he also researched the impact of advance directives on the ED care of oncology patients. Dave won the New York Academy of Medicine Student Essay Prize in the History of Medicine and Public Health, and he hopes to continue his research and interest in bioethics during residency. Dave completed his undergraduate studies at University of Michigan, where he was very active in research and helped to establish a chapter of the Delta Epsilon Iota Honor Society, which brought in scholarship money for students. Dave spent one year in Kyoto, Japan as an English teacher for junior high and elementary students. His interests include travel, tennis, and squash.
