Katrina Leone has been very active at University of Chicago as both a medical student and an undergraduate. While an undergraduate, she was very active in the Sailing Club. She helped to reinvigorate the club and excelled in the sport making her way to the US Sailing Junior Olympics. While there she won the Dave Perry Sportsmanship Award. She placed second in the National Women’s Double-handed Championships and taught sailing during her summers in Minnesota. During medical school, Katrina became actively involved in the free clinic at a women’s shelter and was elected to serve as the Education Coordinator. As a fourth year student, Katrina was chosen to work as a teaching assistant for the Clinical Pathophysiology and Therapeutics course helping the second year students three days a week. During second year she also worked as a teaching assistant for embryology, histology, and anatomy. On top of sailboat racing, Katrina enjoys cooking, painting, yoga, singing, travel, and downhill skiing.
