Publication Announcements:

Please note the recent multicenter study published in Journal of Pain by Drs. Knox Todd, Paula Tanabe et al "Pain in the Emergency Department: Results of the Pain and Emergency Medicine Initiative (PEMI) Multicenter Study."

Their main conclusion, "ED pain intensity is high, analgesics are underutilized, and delays to treatment are common."  "Despite efforts to improve pain management practice, oligoanalgesia remains a problem for emergency medicine."

This is excellent research that identifies and highlights the suboptimal management of pain in EDs.

Congratulations Dr. Tanabe! Link to Article (PDF)
