Research Fellowship at the Institute for Healthcare Studies

The Department of Emergency Medicine has a close relationship with the Institute for Healthcare Studies which is located in the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University (NU). Department Chair, Dr. James G. Adams, MD and faculty member, Dr. Paula Tanabe, PhD sit on the Executive Committee.

Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply for two-year post-doctoral fellowships. During the fellowship, the fellow receives a two year, full-time stipend, and has an excellent opportunity to pursue research skills as well as to enroll in the NU Masters in Public Health program. Fellows are assigned a substantive and methodologic mentor to guide their research experience and activities. Fellows also participate in weekly seminars and receive mentored training in grant writing skills. Additionally, fellows have the opportunity to work with mentors and develop their own health services research projects.
