Resident Celebrations

Graduation Gala

To honor our graduating residents and fellows, the Department hosts a very posh graduation reception and dinner at one of the hotels in Chicago. Besides the graduating residents and fellows, Attendings, nurses, and administrative staff attend the graduation dinner. As a nice touch, parents of the graduates are also invited.

In-Training Exam Party

Every year in July the chief residents organize a party at a local pub to celebrate the completion of the ASA/ABA In-Training/Board Written Examination. All of the current and graduating residents and fellows are invited, including the PGY-1 residents who recently matched into our program.

Holiday Party

The Department hosts a very large party to celebrate the various December holidays at one of the local hotels. Everyone in the department is invited. This is definitely a popular event given the great food and music.

Chicago Cub’s Outing

Every year, the department reserves an entire section of Wrigley Field to watch a night game of the Chicago Cubs. Everyone in the department is invited and each employee gets four tickets to use.

Bowling Party

Having a bowling party in the late summer is a great way to welcome the new PGY-1 and PGY-2 residents. The Department reserves its own private lounge and bowling alleys for this fun affair. Attendings, residents, fellows, and staff and their family are invited, and plenty of good food and drinks are served.
