Children's Memorial Hospital
Children's Memorial Hospital, a 248-bed facility that is located three miles from Northwestern's downtown campus in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood, serves as the venue for a complete pediatric anesthesiology training experience. In April 2006, the board of directors of CMH announced plans to construct a new pediatric hospital adjacent to the new Prentice Women's Hospital of Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Groundbreaking took place in 2008. The new medical center will provide exceptional training for our anesthesiology residents and fellows!
CMH serves more than 102,000 children. Nationally recognized faculty members at Children's Memorial provide the resident with an organized didactic and clinical program that ensures proficiency in the fundamentals of pediatric anesthesiology. Residents rotating at Children's Memorial participate in care for pediatric patients whose conditions require treatment ranging from simple outpatient anesthesia to complex congenital cardiac anesthesia. Children in the greater Chicago area with the most complicated problems generally end up here.

In 2004, CMH added 14 critical care beds to serve an additional 400 children a year. US News & World Report ranks Children's Memorial Hospital among the top 10 pediatric hospitals in the country. The Northwestern and Children's Memorial Hospital partnership is nearly a century old. Graduate medical education programs in general pediatrics and numerous subspecialty areas continue to be among the most competitive nationally. The pediatric anesthesia fellowship program received five-year accreditation (the best possible) from ACGME.
