Interview Day Planning

Since the Resident Recruitment Committee would like to get to know each applicant, we interview only 6-10 applicants each day. All interviews and presentations occur in the Department of Anesthesiology Administrative Office. The night before the interview, one of the chief residents hosts a dinner for the applicants at a downtown Chicago restaurant. Several of our residents attend this dinner with the applicants.

The following day, the Residency Program Director and Program Assistant meet the applicants for breakfast at the Department of Anesthesiology at 7:15 am. The applicants interview with four faculty members including the Department Chair, Program Director, Assistant Director for Education, and a fourth faculty member. In addition, the chief resident will give a presentation about the program and a tour of the facilities. After the tour, the anesthesiology residents host a lunch for the applicants.

Overall, applicants experience a thorough, well-organized, yet "laid back" interview day. The interview day should end by 1:15pm. The Department will pay for your parking expenses provided you park your car in the hospital garage (Lot C) located on Huron between St. Clair and Fairbanks streets (See Map) The Department will also pay the parking expenses for those applicants who drive to the dinner.
