Northwestern is well rounded in every field, particularly in obstetrics, pediatrics and neurosurgery. I like the fact that the anesthesiology department is always searching for new ways to improve the resident experience, never resting on its laurels. The supportive approach and care towards residents' experiences by the Chair and Program Director along with other leaders in the administration made Northwestern the right choice for me. Research is very accessible and there is elective time that can be dedicated to it though not a requirement if your interests do not lie in research. The formal education is also an attractive aspect of Northwestern. The CA-1 lectures on Tuesday mornings are so good that residents from all of the years attend; we also have dynamic simulation sessions every other week, interspersed with the Chair's report, in which we discuss interesting cases and different ways to handle anesthetics among other lectures. |
Bottom line, having chosen Northwestern's program, you receive a nationally recognized education that allows you to have your pick of fellowships and private practices. |
