Research
Interdisciplinary support for brain health research.
Ongoing Projects
IMPACT
IMPACT (Identifying Mechanisms to Preserve Agility in Cognition and Thinking) study is designed to identify factors that are associated with preserved brain health across the lifespan and differentiate those with resilience or vulnerability to vascular brain aging.
CARNIVAL
CARNIVAL (Cognitive Aging and Resilience: NeuroImaging and VAscular Link) database includes detailed brain imaging and clinical data from over 8,000 individuals between age 50 and 80 years old with white matter hyperintensities on brain MRI to help us understand how our brains change with age, and which clinical and imaging factors contribute to changes that affect walking, thinking and memory as we get older.
Aging & Neutrophil Stroke Study
This study examines the significance and role of neutrophils in brain injury using a murine model of ischemic stroke to determine how aging impacts neutrophil recruitment and persistence.
