The Office of Minority and Cultural Affairs (OMCA) works to fulfill the school’s diversity commitment through its focus on the following areas: - diversification of the student and faculty bodies
- educational programming to build cultural competency knowledge and skills
- building partnerships within the Chicago area
- contributing to student success by providing individual student support and advocacy
- facilitating the efforts of numerous student organizations.
The OMCA coordinates its efforts with many departments within the School of Medicine and the University at large through its work with the administration, faculty, and affiliated hospital network. This office houses a collection of resources on cultural competency, sponsors several annual and monthly activities for the student body, and maintains an open door policy. The OMCA is dedicated to serving as a resource for all students and supporting faculty members and students committed to combating health disparities and sharing information about the diverse health needs of patient populations.
