Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clerkship

Required Assignments and Expectations

The student will perform at least one history and physical on a patient admitted to the rehabilitation unit.  The written history and physical exam will be evaluated by the student's attending physician.

The student will write daily progress notes on at least two other assigned patients.

The student will attend daily ward rounds with assigned physicians.

The student will attend his/her patient's therapy sessions.

The student will attend two specialty outpatient clinics during the rotation.  Examples include spinal cord injury, stroke, amputee/prosthetics, chronic pain, cerebral palsy, post-polio, orthopedic and brain injury clinics.

The student will attend all lectures.

The student will complete all assigned readings.

The student will complete an independent study project on a rehabilitation related topic and present this topic to the assigned clinical team.
