Policy on Suitability for MedicineStudents must demonstrate good judgment, a sense of responsibility and morality, sensitivity and compassion for individual patient needs, and the ability to synthesize and apply knowledge to become safe and effective physicians. When there is question about a student's suitability for the practice of medicine, the Student Promotions Committee (SPC), may be asked to review the student's academic and professional performance. The student shall have the right to appear before the committee in order to defend his or her suitability. The SPC will forward its determination as to the student's suitability to the Dean for final action. Actions can include, but are not limited to: probation, suspension or dismissal from medical school. |
