| Interview Season Policy- Interviewing during your subinternship is difficult. Students should make every effort to schedule the majority of their interviews either BEFORE or AFTER their subinternship. During interview season, students might need to take off one specific date in order to accommodate an essential interview. Students will, therefore, be allowed to use their "5th floating day off" to accommodate interviews that might become available on short notice. Interviews which were scheduled prior to the start of the rotation should be discussed with the clerkship coordinator BEFORE day 1 in order to help find the optimal team assignment & call schedule.
- If subinterns need to travel out-of-town and miss 2 consecutive days- then one day will be considered their "extra floating day off" and the second day will be their scheduled day off for the week. Again, students may not (under any circumstances) miss more then 5 days out of the 28 day rotation.
- Students are not allowed to leave at noon the day before an interview, or return at noon the day after an interview. Taking "half-days" in order to arrange for travel is not acceptable. These "travel days" will be counted by the clerkship director as a full "day-off." Remember: traveling during the Winter in Chicago is not easy and flights are often cancelled. We actively discourage more than 1 out-of-town interview since a flight cancelled due to bad weather could result in a student needing to remediate the clerkship if they have an unexcused absence.
