Obstetrics & Gynecology Clerkship
Goals and Objectives

The Obstetrician-Gynecologist provides primary and preventive care for women’s health care needs, with an emphasis on reproductive lifecycle needs. During this clerkship we will provide you with a solid foundation of knowledge and skills to address these gender-specific health care needs.

  • Reproductive health history (Ob and Gyne) including a sexual history
  • Pelvic Exam (inspection, speculum, bimanual, rectal) and Breast Exam
  • Pap Smear and Vaginitis /STD Evaluation
  • Date a pregnancy and assess fetal well-being
  • Determine medication safety in pregnancy and lactation
  • Vaginal Delivery
  • Knot tying and Suturing
  • Information Literacy in Reproductive Health
  • Patient Counseling
    contraception and reproductive choice
     safer sex and STD prevention
     preconceptional health
     breast health and lactation
     menopausal health
