Neurology Clerkship Grading and Evaluation PolicyYour final evaluation for this rotation fall into one of the following categories: Honors, High Pass, Pass, or Fail. Guidelines for determining the final grade for students:75% of the grade will be determined by the clinical evaluations. Each student will receive 2 to 3 clinical evaluations and a form grading their history and physical examination skills. Each evaluation will be given a score based on: - Honors-4
- High pass-3
- Pass-2
- Fail-0
25% of the grade will be determined by the written shelf examination score. The written examination will receive a numerical score based on the number assigned to their percentile rank for the nation.
- 100-90% - 4
- 89-80% - 3.5
- 79-60% -
- 59-40% - 2.5
- <39 - 2
- <10 - fail
The final grade will depend on the average of the above and correlate with: - 3.6 - 4 Honors
- 3.1 - 3.5 High Pass
- 2 - 3 Pass
- Below 2 Fail
The above rules are subject to the clerkship director’s discretion, based on the circumstances. Notes:
- The final determination of your grade will be criterion based.
- Regardless of your categorical grade, all of your strong qualities will be mentioned in your summary (which is used to write the Dean’s letter).
- The grading system is objective. You will find that the neurology faculty is very dedicated to teaching, and all students will be taught equally. The grading will be strictly based on the above guidelines.
- If you have problems or concerns with your learning experience during your rotation, please approach me as soon as possible (preferably before the rotation is over).
