Description:  The NHSC Scholarship is a competitive federal program which awards scholarships to medical students who plan to specialize in family medicine, general pediatrics, general internal medicine, psychiatry or obstetrics/gynecology. Upon completion of residency training in one of those specialties, participants must choose to practice in a federally designated health professional shortage area for one year for each year of financial support received.

Eligibility:  Open to U.S. citizens or nationals, enrolled full-time, and not obligated to another federal, state, or other entity for professional practice.
