IDPH - Center for Rural Health - Medical Student Scholarship Program

Description:  The purpose of the Medical Student Scholarship Program is to increase the number of primary care physicians in Illinois physician shortage areas. This program provides scholarships to cover tuition, mandatory fees and living expenses.

Eligibility:  Open to students that are currently enrolled, Illinois residents, who demonstrate financial need. Must plan to pursue a specialty in primary care.

Award Amount: Covers tuition and fees and provides a monthly living stipend for 12 months per year.

Duration/Location of Program:  Must practice for 1year for each year scholarship received/determined by shortage area needs.
