Academic Year 1 (summer):
Enrollment and successful completion of the Medical Student Summer Research Program (MSSRP) or a comparable summer research experience.

Academic Year 2:
Apply to the Research Thesis Program in the fall.
Perform research during unscheduled time blocks.

Academic Year 4:
3 months of research at Northwestern are required, totaling 6 months performed during medical school.

Academic Year 4 (spring):
Prepare a final report, present your study to the RTP committee, and present an oral presentation at the Feinberg School of Medicine's RTP conference.
