The NU-SRALAB Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency is a training ground and model for the advanced practice of orthopaedic physical therapy in the 21st century, focusing on science-based clinical reasoning, effective and efficient examination and evaluation, evidence based application of orthopaedic physical therapy interventions, patient education based on sound biomechanical and health literacy principles, and participation in research and data collection towards the advancement of orthopaedic physical therapy practice and research.

The Northwestern University & Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency is accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association as a postprofessional residency program for physical therapists in orthopaedic physical therapy.
Applications to the residency are submitted via the online RF-PTCAS national common application system. The RF-PTCAS application cycles begin on October 1 (or the first business day of October) each year.
Please consult our residency calendar (found in the Information Packet, and on the Admissions Calendar sidebar on this webpage), for our program’s admissions closing date for the year you are applying. Applicants may start to submit the RF-PTCAS application as soon as it is available each cycle year.
