The Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology has a large clinical practice with a diverse population which offers medical students, residents, and other health care providers ample opportunities for learning, both formally and informally.
The division provides various clinical services for women, including routine gynecologic exams and low-risk obstetric care. The faculty in the division consists of nine full-time physicians as well as several contributed service physicians.
Students and residents receive a broad education in the clinical care of women of all ages. Through the Prentice Ambulatory Care (PAC) Clinic, modeled after a standard obstetrics/gynecology practice, residents provide a full spectrum of care to low-income women in an outpatient setting. Trainees are exposed to a wide range of consultative services, including diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and treatments, routine gynecologic exams, low risk obstetric care, contraception, breast and bone density screening, and menopause management in a busy outpatient practice and at Prentice Women’s Hospital.
Research within the division continues on a number of different topics. Recent publications have included findings on efficacy of diagnostic methods and contraceptive options. Faculty within the division are also interested in evaluating and developing new educational models, best practices using electronic health records, business models, as well as issues related to public health.
Physicians in the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology provide a wide range of consultation services, diagnostic and therapeutic, and well-woman care, including routine gynecological exams, low risk obstetric care, contraception, menopause management, breast and bone density screening, treatment for infections and menstrual disorders, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgery. Patients are seen in offices in the Galter Pavilion of Northwestern Memorial Hospital and at Prentice Women’s Hospital.
