Discussing the Cellular Mechanisms of Insulin Resistance

Gerald Shulman, MD, PhD, professor of Internal Medicine & Cellular and Molecular Physiology at Yale University and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator, presents “Cellular Mechanisms of Insulin Resistance: Implications for Obesity, Lipodystrophy and Type 2 Diabetes” as part of the Lectures in Life Sciences series at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, in the Baldwin Auditorium at the Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center. A leading authority on the topic, he is also an expert on the role of the liver and muscle in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes and the benefits of exercise in the management of the disease. Dr. Shulman has been elected to the Association of American Physicians, the Institute of Medicine and the National Academy of Sciences.
