Rear Admiral Boris Lushniak, MD '83, MPH, became acting surgeon general of the United States last week, accepting the role following the departure of Vice Admiral Regina Benjamin, MD, MBA.

Oxytocin has long been known as the warm, fuzzy hormone that promotes feelings of love, social bonding, and wellbeing. It's even being tested as an anti-anxiety drug. But new research shows it also can cause emotional pain, an entirely new, darker identity for the hormone.
