Transfer Departments

Transfer to a Different Division within Your DepartmentUse this process to transfer a faculty member between divisions of your department, or to correct the division in which they are listed
OPTION 1: Transfer to a Different Division within Your Department (Update in FAO Faculty Database Only)
The following process is used when the transfer/correction only needs to be recorded in the FAO faculty database (which controls the faculty lists on Feinberg department websites) and not also in the university myHR system:
- Email fao@northwestern.edu and provide:
- Name of the faculty member (must be someone already appointed in your department)
- The division of your department where their primary appointment should be transferred
- Start date of the transfer (can be retroactive, or aligned with the beginning of current appointment term)
OPTION 2: Transfer to a Different Division within Your Department (Update in FAO Faculty Database and myHR)
While all Feinberg departments have department IDs in myHR, most divisions are not represented in the myHR organizational structure. However, some departments have separate myHR department IDs for each division. If your department is one of those and the division transfer needs to appear in the FAO Faculty Database and myHR, then use this process:
- Submit an OnBase transaction and upload the following documents
- Position Data/Appointment Forms for the secondary appointment
Transfer within FSM
The new department completes the OnBase submission form (for help, view this OnBase page). Combine the following documents into a single PDF file and upload to the Position / Appointment Form button. When combining documents, use this order:
- Cover Sheet: Department Transfer (Word)
- Position data/appointment forms, current department downloads from myHR and new department updates location and other details as necessary
- Prior correspondence with FAO regarding special circumstances, if applicable
- Candidate's current CV
Transfer to FSM from another NU school
The new department completes the OnBase submission form (for help, view this OnBase page). Combine the following documents into a single PDF file and upload to the Position / Appointment Form button. When combining documents, use this order:
- Cover Sheet: Department Transfer (Word)
- Position data/appointment forms, current department downloads from myHR and new department updates location and other details as necessary
- Prior correspondence with FAO regarding special circumstances, if applicable
- Candidate's current CV
