Admissions Process

The MD Program has several initiatives in place to support underrepresented groups during the admissions and interviewing process, as well as support them throughout their time as students.

Student for a Day and Prospective Student Advising

Spend a day shadowing a current Feinberg student. Attend morning lecture or a small group discussion, have lunch with a small group of students, and tour our campus. Meet the Office of Diversity and Inclusion staff and learn more about opportunities at Feinberg. Please call our office if you are interested in a shadowing visit.

Applicant Support

We do not want the application process to represent an unmanageable burden or barrier to great minds coming to Feinberg. Our office is pleased to offer assistance with your application or supplemental fee.

Reach OUT

Learn about LGBTQ life at Feinberg and in Chicago. Interviewing students can contact the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to connect with current Feinberg LGBTQ students through the Reach OUT campaign.

Information is listed on the interview scheduling secure site announcing the Reach OUT activities to connect prospective students who identify as LGBTQ+ with current Feinberg students of LGBTQ identities. This effort is supported by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and the Feinberg LGBTQ+ Alliance student group.

Interview Day Small Group Gathering

For underrepresented students, we offer a small group informal gathering with current Feinberg students before or after your interview day. Applicants who self identify on their AMCAS applications receive personal invitations from the Office of Diversity. Feinberg defines the following groups as underrepresented in medicine: African American, Latino, Native American, Native Hawaiian, and students who identify as LGBTQ.

Second Look Weekend

We coordinate with the Office of Admissions and provide additional programming for Second Look Weekend specific to the needs and questions of underrepresented students, in addition to participating in general Second Look programming. Underrepresented students can expect a personal invitation to the Office of Diversity and Inclusion event.

Summer Pre-Matriculation Program

Accepted Students matriculating to Feinberg can participate in a summer experience focused on research and community partnership in an area of their choosing. Students receive a stipend to defray the costs of transitioning to medical school.

Ongoing Support

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion sponsors a number of initiatives to sustain students throughout their time at Feinberg and encourage open communication.
