Diversity and Inclusion

Prospective Students

The Queers & Allies Student Group is excited to assist LGBT applicants and medical students in accessing all the programs that Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine has to offer.

The Association of American Medical Colleges “AAMC” defines underrepresented in medicine (URM) as “racial and ethnic populations that are underrepresented in the medical profession relative to their numbers in the general population”. Feinberg is unique in their broad definition of URM, which includes not only students from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, but also other racial and ethnic, religious, gender, and sexual identities; people with disabilities, and socioeconomic diversity.

Applying/Interviewing Students

Reach OUT

Learn about LGBT life at Feinberg and in Chicago. Interviewing students can contact the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to connect with current Feinberg LGBT students through the Reach OUT campaign. We’ll treat you to coffee or dinner and give you a goodie bag with Northwestern swag during your visit.

Accepted/Waitlisted Students

The Office’s annual Second Look event is a great opportunity to meet not only current LGBT students but also your future classmates! All applicants who identified as a member of an underrepresented group can expect a personal invitation to this event. If you didn’t identify yourself as such on your application, please contact the Office of Diversity and Inclusion to attend. Come see Q&A at the activities fair.
